How to Join

Joining Local 668 is quick and easy! To become a member: 

  1. Follow this link to the Council 5 Membership Application page.
  2. Complete all required fields.
  3. Click "Join us" at the bottom of the page.
  4. That's it!

Why You Should Join

Dues

  • Dues are 1% of your monthly income, to a maximum of $75.91 per month. 
    • eg: If you make $5,000/month, your dues would be $50/month
  • Dues are deducted automatically from your paycheck each month.
  • Dues go towards the effective operation of Local 668.
  • Political donations are separate from Union dues. Only optional AFSCME PEOPLE (Public Employees Organized to Promote Legislative Equality)  contributions go to the Political Action Committee that does political and endorsement work. 

Were You Referred by a Coworker?

  • For the coworker who referred you to receive the reward for their referral, you must fill out the Local 668 Referral Form after signing up for Local 668.
  • You can refer for rewards, too! See below for information on the Member Referral Program.

Member Referral Program

From May 5 - August 17, 2026 Met Council employees will be awarded a $50 Visa gift card from Local 668 when they sign a coworker onto Local 668 membership. 

  • There are no limits to the number of gift cards an employee can receive.
  • The individual who has signed on the most AFSCME Local 668 members by August 17, 2026 will receive an additional $500 reward.
  • For the referrer to receive reward(s) for their referral, the new member they’ve referred to Local 668 must fill out the Local 668 Referral Form, naming the referrer.
  • The $50 Visa gift card will be distributed to the referrer only after Local 668 has verified that a member application for the referred individual has been submitted.
